Yoga for Wellness & Recovery
Part I – Interactive Presentation: Through theory and demonstration, participants will learn about yoga, mindfulness and meditation for mental health and addiction recovery. The benefits of utilizing the mind-body connection will be addressed; including techniques for mood-management, relapse prevention and as a positive addition to a well-rounded, sustainable health plan. Tying together specialized trainings and lived-experience, Evonne will provide takeaway tools and share her personal journey.
Part II - Yoga for Wellness & Recovery: Focusing on the relationship between mood management and the mind-body connection, sessions offer a combination of breathing, mindfulness, movement, music and meditation. The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of a yoga practice will be explored. For all levels: beginners to regular practitioners. Improving the mental, psychological and cognitive well-being in both adults and adolescents, yoga is gaining popularity as part of an effective treatment plan for various conditions and disorders, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and addiction.
This session provides specific tools and practices for a variety of mental health challenges including: stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, ptsd and addiction. Participants will enjoy an engaging, interactive discussion and practice that will focus on accessing the mind-body connection for mental, emotional and physical health benefits.
The mind and the body will be addressed as complements of each other, examining ways in which the body and breath can be used to modify states of stress, anxiety, low moods and depression. Take-away tools and information for implementation into daily life will be offered with a concentration on mental and emotional balance.
Immersed in the yoga for healing world, Evonne shares her expertise, specialized trainings and lived-experience with participants through yoga, mindfulness and meditation. She combines professional and personal experience gathered through teaching and working in conjunction with mental health organizations, universities, healthcare and the recovery community.
